The TOEFL Test Of English as a Foreign Internet-based Exam is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, recognized by more than 8,000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries. Students and professionals interested in working or studying abroad equip themselves well with this most widely accepted exam. The aim of this TOEFL course is to carefully train students to excel in all areas tested in the IBT exam--reading, essay writing, listening, and speaking. Solid B2 knowledge of English is a prerequisite to this course. A complete and systematic brushup of English grammar is therefore not built into the program, though basic review as well as individual coaching may be arranged on-demand. Instead, students are expected to get straight down to the business of refining their verbal expression, polishing their writing, deepening their active vocabulary, and appreciating nuance at the higher level of English required to pass the exam.
Absolutely essential to success at the test and most efficient use of your time is to be prepared to do at least 3-4 hours of homework between each meeting, including writing one essay per week as well as the reading and analysis of at least one text per week. An opportunity to do a real-time mock exam is available in Vienna on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is highly recommended by the mid-term of the course on your own time.
The course is designed above all to hone students' skills in spoken and written articulation in English, whilst enhancing listening and reading comprehension. Focus in lessons will be on effectiveness in discussion and argumentation, as well as best-practice written English. Individual essay correction is incorporated in the program. Registration for the course entails thus a firm commitment on the part of the student and your trainer, to ensuring your success and most effective use of our time together. Informal counseling on study opportunities and the educational system in the U.S. are also available upon request.
A TOEFL preparation course can obviously be entirely individual and customized to your own personal needs and in so doing entail as many one-to-one lessons as needed to optimize your score.
